After the Show It's the Afterparty...

By thoroughlymodern · September 23, 2009 · 0 Comments · 10 Views

Scratch what I said about that previous photo - this one is the best ever:

Above are Daily Show-ers (L-R) Rory Albanese, John Oliver, Jason Jones and Wyatt Cenac at Comedy Central's Emmy afterparty at Falcon on Sunday night. John and Wyatt already look drunk.

I saw Rob Riggle do stand up the other night. He told a story about a waiter "ogling" his wife. He said she's attractive, but, damn, he really undersold her - she's a hottie.

Also, how dapper does Ed Helms look?

This is Stephen Colbert and his beautiful wife Evie McGee walking the Emmys red carpet next to... well, Getty labels them as "tv personalities Kynt Cothron and Vyxsin Fiala." I label them as "hilarious juxtaposition." (Also, the overlay of her outfit reminds me of Vena Cava's new safety pin top.... except I like Vena Cava's.)

Doesn't this look like two photos smushed together? I'm not entirely sure that it isn't. Getty's just messing with our heads.

Amy Sedaris at the Toronto International Film Festival

Amy Sedaris sightings are too few and far between, so I'm glad she attended the screening of her new movie Jennifer's Body at the Toronto Film Festival! (Amy play's the mother of Amanda Seyfried's character.) Here's a portrait and some red carpet photos.

"Luckily for us, black opaques and shorts — particularly denim — go together like fags and Kate Moss."

Photos: John Oliver & Jon Stewart at UJA Federation Award Ceremony

By thoroughlymodern · June 6, 2009 · 0 Comments · 125 Views

Back in April the UJA Federation of New York honored MTV Networks president Doug Herzog and Comedy Central at their Broadcast, Cable & Video Award Celebration.

Why do I care? Because John Oliver emceed and Jon Stewart closed the ceremony. Also, Joan Rivers opened the show, and she's pretty great. (Did anyone else see PBS's "Make 'Em Laugh" special? She was so pretty when she was young! And hilarious.)

I went ahead and included all the photos of Oliver and Stewart at the ceremony that Getty would let me have. There are some pretty great expressions on their faces! I adore the one of Ollie above - I can just see the mock, yet sincere, frustration.

Plenty more photos after the jump.

Crazy About: Coral

By thoroughlymodern · June 6, 2009 · 0 Comments · 30 Views

Seeing Essie's "Mini Shorts" nailpolish on J.Crew's website reminded me what a great summer color coral is.It turns out the polish is actually more orange-y than in J.Crew's picture, but the inspiration stuck.

I combed through ShopStyle and picked out some of my favorite coral-colored items.

I need to work on my editing skills, because I ended up with a lot of stuff I could bear to cut out. So I broke up my finds in to categories.

First up: accessories.

Dresses, tops, and bottoms after the jump.

Don't Forget: "Pushing Daisies" on ABC tonight

By thoroughlymodern · May 30, 2009 · 0 Comments · 9 Views

THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

ABC starts airing the final three episodes of (the sadly cancelled) Pushing Daisies tonight. The show will air on Saturdays at 10/9c for the next three weeks. It will then - like so many of its characters - rest in peace... with the glimmer of a possibility for a future movie version.

Check out TVGuide.com's "Where Were We?" for a recap of where Daisies left off and an explanation of why we're just now getting the final episodes ("The facts were these...).

This show really just got a bad break, if you ask me, what with the writers strike interrupting its first season. And, while it's quality TV, it's expensive to produce. It needed a much larger audience in order to stick around.

(Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to listen to some Kristin Chenoweth.)
